Thornton Moor Windfarm Action Group

"Localism NOT Nimbyism"

TMWAG Supporters gather on the Bronte Way. Photo Courtesy of the T&AThe Thornton Moor Windfarm Action Group was initially formed by concerned local residents in June 2010 after we all received a leaflet through the door from Banks Renewables declaring their intention to put a windfarm on nearby Thornton Moor.

For some people, their reaction was to throw the leaflet into the recycling bin, as it was delivered by Royal Mail with other marketing leaflets.  Because of its design, some thought it was a Co-op leafletOthers simply thought the leaflet was referring to plans for the existing windfarm on Ovenden Moor!

As the campaign has progressed, our supporter numbers have increased, both locally and nationally. As such we are going from strength to strength in our fight to protect this community against industrial wind turbines. We are also supported by our local MP, Phil Davies, Bradford West MP, George Galloway, local councillors Baroness Margaret Eaton, Simon Cooke and Michael Ellis, and the UKIP MEP, Godfrey Bloom.

Please remember that with over 300 windfarm opposition groups throughout the country, our concerns are real and are shared by thousands of people in the UK, and beyond.  We are not ‘NIMBY’s’ as some people have accused us of being.  We are simply normal local people who are worried about the impact that such a development will have on our day to day lives and the beautiful landscape in which we are privileged to live.
